2020 Interstate Exchanges Begin

This weekend sees the beginning of the NSWCUSA Interstate Exchanges for the 2019-20 season which will see umpires moving between Adelaide, Hobart and Perth over the coming weeks.

NSWCUSA members Berend du Plessis, Geoff Irvine and Kedar Oza have been selected to travel to spend a weekend officiating interstate.

NSW Men’s Premier Cricket Panel 1 umpire Kedar Oza has travelled to Adelaide as part of the NSWCUSA-SACA exchange, the first time an exchange has been conducted between the states.

Kedar was promoted to the First Panel ahead of the 2018-19 season and has now officiated in 19 First Grade matches amongst a total of 162 Sydney Cricket Association (SCA) fixtures.

Whilst in Adelaide, Kedar will be on field for three matches:

  • 10 January – West End T20 – Prospect v Sturt
  • 11 January – West End One Day Cup – Kensington v Sturt
  • 12 January – Statewide Super Women’s First Grade – West Torrens v Kensington

 

Arriving in Sydney will be South Australian State Panel umpire Harsimran Singh, who will be on field for two matches:

  • 11 January – First Grade – Blacktown Mounties v Manly-Warringah
  • 12 January – AW Green Shield – Western Suburbs v Eastern Suburbs

 

Geoff Irvine, also a Panel 1 umpire in NSW Men’s Premier Cricket, has travelled to Perth as part of the NSWCUSA-WACA exchange.

Now in his fourth season on the top panel, Geoff has stood in 135 SCA matches, with 52 of those in First Grade.

On the west coast this weekend, Geoff will be on field in two matches:

  • 11 January – First Grade – University v Perth
  • 12 January – Women’s A Grade – Melville v South Perth

 

West Australian umpire Merv Redrum will travel to Sydney over the Australia Day long weekend to officiate a First Grade two-day match.

The NSWCUSA-TCUSA exchange is scheduled to take place later in the season, with State Panel umpire Berend du Plessis travelling to Hobart on the weekend of 29 February – 1 March.

Berend has officiated in a total of 111 SCA matches, with 56 of them being in First Grade since making his debut in the last round of the 2014-15 season.

Former Zimbabwean International Panel umpire Jerry Matibiri, now on the Tasmanian State Panel, will also be officiating in Sydney on 25-26 January.
