Milestones Galore in Premier Cricket Round 10

A remarkable four umpires will achieve significant match milestones tomorrow when they take to the field in Men’s Premier Cricket Round 10 across Sydney.

NSWCUSA Life Member Greg Lill will become only the fourth umpire to stand in 550 Sydney Cricket Association matches when he officiates the Fourth Grade fixture at Killara Park between Gordon and Randwick Petersham.

Greg commenced umpiring in 1986, overseeing the first of his 400 First Grade matches when he made his debut in the grade during the 1989-90 season at Bankstown Oval when Bankstown hosted Petersham-Marrickville.

In addition to umpiring in the SCA, Lill has stood in two Sheffield Shield matches and three List A fixtures.

He was elevated to NSWCUSA Life Membership in 2011 before also becoming a Life Member of the SCA in 2017.

Having joined the Association in 1985, Peter Tate will be standing in his 300th SCA match tomorrow in the First Grade fixture between Sydney and Hawkesbury at Drummoyne Oval.

The match will be his 183rd in the top grade, which have come alongside a number of Women’s internationals – officiating two Women’s ODIs and two Women’s T20I matches – all coming in the 2008-09 season.

He has also been the on field umpire a number of times in Cricket Australia competitions – four WNCL matches (including the 2008-09 Final) and three Women’s T20 matches.

At Coogee Oval, Cricket Australia Supplementary Panel umpire Ben Treloar will be standing in his 150th First Grade match as Randwick Petersham host Gordon.

It will be his 235th SCA match since umpiring for the first time in 2006, which includes two First Grade Limited-Overs Cup Finals and four Second Grade Finals amongst other lower grade finals.

He has accrued considerable experience in Cricket Australia competitions – with one List A fixture, two WNCL matches (including last season’s Final) and 29 WT20 matches (including last season’s WBBL Final).

Geoff Irvine will be standing in his 150th SCA match since beginning his umpiring journey in 2011-12, the same season where he won both the Alan Marshall Medal and the Panel 3 Medal.

The First Grade match between Blacktown Mounties and Sydney University at Joe McAleer Reserve will be his 65th in the highest grade.
