Polosak Officiates Women’s T20 World Cup Final
NSWCUSA congratulates Claire Polosak who was appointed to oversee last night’s ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final in Dubai between South Africa and New Zealand.
The appointment came after her fourth Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final on Friday night, as eventual champions New Zealand beat the West Indies to secure their spot in the final.
For Polosak, it was her 64th WT20I match on-field, and the 21st match she has overseen in the five editions of the Women’s T20 World Cup she has been involved in.
Having also officiated at two Women’s World Cups in the 50-over format – it was her first World Cup Final in either format.
She has previously stood in the final of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier on three occasions and umpired six senior women’s domestic finals across the WNCL and WBBL.
State Umpiring Manager Darren Goodger congratulated her, and paid tribute to the standard of her performances during the tournament and her character.
“This appointment was wonderful recognition of Claire’s preparation, teamwork and performance during this tournament – all of which have been of the highest quality.
“Claire was delighted to receive this opportunity, but in her usual humble and focused manner she said the most important thing was to get the job done in the best interests of the players and the game.
“To have an Australian appointed to umpire a World Cup final is a rare privilege. Claire deserves the privilege.”
Prior to last night’s final, Polosak had previously been involved in five matches on-field, as well as an additional two as TV Umpire, and two as Fourth Umpire.
