2023-24 Cricket Australia Umpire Panels Confirmed

Eight NSWCUSA members have been retained by Cricket Australia on their umpiring panels for season 2023-24, announced last week.

Gerard Abood, Greg Davidson, Simon Lightbody, Ben Treloar, and Paul Wilson all continue as members of the National Umpire Panel whilst Sharad Patel, Troy Penman, and Claire Polosak have been selected to continue on the Supplementary Panel.

Abood and Wilson were both on-field in national finals last season, the One-Day Cup and BBL Finals respectively, and continue on the National Panel for their 15th and 14th seasons.

Davidson, Lightbody and Treloar were heavily involved in each of CA’s men’s domestic competitions, including each being on-field for five Sheffield Shield matches across the last season.

Patel and Polosak both made BBL debuts on-field last season, whilst Patel and Penman became NSWCUSA’s newest members to officiate in men’s first-class cricket.

The only change to the two panels is the addition of now South Australian-based umpire Drew Crozier, who joins the Supplementary Panel for the first-time.

Chair of the CA Umpire Selection Panel, Damien Mealey noted the opportunities received by emerging umpires last season, “The Selection Panel is encouraged by the emergence of new umpires developing across all States and Territories, which has resulted in several first-class debuts placing match officiating in a very strong position moving forward.

“The quality of the panels is an endorsement of the outstanding umpiring talent within Australian cricket.”

Claire Polosak and Paul Wilson have been nominated to continue their involvement in international cricket, whilst Rod Tucker continues as a member of the ICC’s Elite Panel, his 14th season.
