Abood Appointed to Marsh One-Day Cup Final

NSWCUSA member Gerard Abood has been appointed to today’s Marsh One-Day Cup Final between Queensland and Western Australia at Allan Border Field.

This will be Abood’s first domestic One-Day Cup Final, and his third Men’s domestic final, having stood in the finals of the Sheffield Shield and the Big Bash in 2017-18 and 2018-19 respectively.

He also officiated the 2008-09 Women’s National Cricket League Final between New South Wales and Victoria at the SCG.

A member of the International Panel of ICC Umpires, Abood has now stood in eight T20 Internationals and a single One-Day International, alongside a Women’s Test match between Australia and England at North Sydney in November 2017.

Today’s final will also be Abood’s 50th List A fixture, having made his debut in the format on 2 January 2006 in Wangaratta as Victoria hosted New South Wales.

Gerard reached the 50-match milestone in First-Class cricket back in 2017, when officiating a Ranji Trophy match in Baroda, India between Tamil Nadu and Baroda.

He has now officiated in 60 First-Class matches – the most recent of which was the Sheffield Shield match between Western Australia and Victoria at the WACA Ground in October.

This season has already been busy for Gerard, having stood in four T20Is alongside two Sheffield Shield matches and two matches during the preliminary rounds of the One-Day Cup.

In his officiating career in NSW Men’s Premier Cricket, Gerard has now stood in 94 matches in First Grade amongst 137 matches in all SCA competitions and grades.

His on field partner for today will be Victorian umpire Shawn Craig with fellow Victorian Phil Gillespie acting as the Third Umpire.

The Match Referee is Daryl Harper and the scorers are Cliff Howard and John Olding.
