Abood in Middle for One-Day Cup Final

As Western Australia took out the One-Day Cup Final this week, NSWCUSA member Gerard Abood was in the middle, on-field for his sixth senior national final.

Abood was officiating at the WACA Ground as the hosts defeated South Australia by 181 runs.

It was the third time he has been in the middle for Australia’s domestic one-day final, having previously been on-field in 2019-20 and 2020-21.

Abood has also officiated the Big Bash Final on two occasions and the Sheffield Shield Final once.

His 13th season as a member of Cricket Australia’s National Umpire Panel has been a busy one, on-field in nine BBL matches, including The Eliminator Final, two preliminary matches in the One-Day Cup and five matches so far in the Sheffield Shield.

Joining Abood on-field was NUP colleague Sam Nogajski, with Shawn Craig the TV Umpire for the fixture.

Kepler Wessels was Match Referee, with local scorers Sue Rodgers & Sandy Wheeler recording the match.
