Penman and Polosak Appointed for WBBL|08 Final

Cricket Australia have appointed NSW based umpires Troy Penman and Claire Polosak to tomorrow’s Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) Final between the Sydney Sixers and the Adelaide Strikersto be played at North Sydney Oval.

The pair have enjoyed successful seasons on the pitch as well as outside the boundary rope as third umpire, and as such have been awarded the opportunity to officiate the eighth edition of the WBBL Final.

Polosak, who earlier in the week on-field umpired the Challenger final between the Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes, has been appointed on the field for the final. Whilst Penman has been named as the TV umpire, coming off the back of a confident spell out in the middle for last night’s Eliminator final between Brisbane and Adelaide.

Hailing from Goulburn, Polosak has been a member of the International Panel of ICC Development Umpires since 2018 and Cricket Australia’s Supplementary Umpire Panel since the 2014-15 season. This will be Polosak’s fifth involvement as an official in a WBBL Final, standing in the 2019-20 and 2020-21 finals, and being TV Umpire in the finals of 2018-19 and 2021-22.

Penman, who made his BBL umpiring debut in early January, possesses an abundance of professional experience, with four Cricket Australia National Championship finals, four U19 ODI’s, the 2019-20 WNCL final, and a list of WBBL matches under his belt.

Cricket NSW Head of Competitions and Officiating, Darren Goodger, was delighted for the pair, acknowledging the time and effort required to put themselves in this position.

“It will be a wonderful experience for Claire and Troy to be part of the WBBL Final tomorrow at North Sydney,” said Goodger.

“They have worked hard for and deserve their opportunities. We wish them and all the match officials well.”

Congratulations must also go to NSW’s own Toni Lorraine (Mosman CC) and Ian Wright (Sydney CC), who have been appointed as scorers for the WBBL|08 final.
