NSWCUSA Members in Action for BBL Final

The Big Bash League Final is taking place in Sydney for the first time tomorrow night and a number of NSWCUSA members have been appointed to officiate the 2019-20 decider.

Gerard Abood and Paul Wilson will be the on field umpires at the SCG with Christine Bennison and Ian Wright appointed to score the fixture between the Sydney Sixers and the Melbourne Stars.

Victorian Shawn Craig has been appointed as Third Umpire, with fellow Victorian Phillip Gillespie the Fourth Umpire.

South Australian Daryl Harper will be the Match Referee.

The Final will be Gerard’s second BBL Final, having been on field in last season’s decider between Melbourne Renegades and the Melbourne Stars.

Earlier this season he was also appointed the Final of the One-Day Cup between Queensland and Western Australia at Allan Border Field.

Gerard has been involved in the Final all three domestic formats as he was on field in the 2017-18 Sheffield Shield Final between Tasmania and Queensland.

Paul Wilson will be standing in his third Big Bash Final, previously officiating in the 2014-15 and 2016-17 – both between the Sydney Sixers and the Perth Scorchers.

Paul has also officiated in three Sheffield Shield Finals (2015-16, 2016-17 and 2018-19) as well as three consecutive One-Day Cup Finals (2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19).

Ian Wright will be officiating his third national final, having previously recorded the Women’s National Cricket League Finals in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

Christine has considerable experience in national finals, tomorrow will be her ninth in all formats; she has overseen two Sheffield Shield Finals (2007-08 and 2013-14), four consecutive One-Day Cup Finals between 2013 and 2017 and last season she also officiated in the WNCL and WBBL Finals.
