Wilson On-Field for Sheffield Shield Final

NSWCUSA member Paul Wilson is on-field in the Sheffield Shield Final between Queensland and New South Wales, which commenced at Allan Border Field today.

It is the fourth time Wilson has officiated the decider – having stood in the 2015-16, 2016-17 and the most recent final – the 2018-19 iteration which saw Victoria beat New South Wales in Melbourne.

His partner for the match is Tasmanian Sam Nogajski, himself officiating his third Shield Final – which sees the pairing overseeing their second consecutive final together.

The appointment will conclude a busy summer for Wilson, having officiated the Third and Fourth Test matches and one match in each of the One-Day and T20 International series against India.

On a domestic front, he also officiated three Shield matches during the regular season – including the clash between the same two states earlier this month in Wollongong – as well as one match in the One-Day Cup and five in the Big Bash League.

The match will be the second domestic final overseen by Wilson and Nogajski this season, having also been on-field for the BBL Final at the SCG in February.

For Wilson, it is his 65th first-class match since debuting in the 2009-10 Shield season at the WACA Ground when Western Australia hosted New South Wales.

Queenslander Donovan Koch is involved in the Shield final for the first time, overseeing proceedings from the Third Umpire’s chair.

Local scorers Tracey Moody and Doug O’Neill are recording the match, with Bob Parry officiating as Match Referee.

The Sheffield Shield Final will be broadcast in Australia on Fox Cricket and Kayo Sports with ABC Grandstand also broadcasting live.
