Four Members Officiating One-Day Cup Final

Gerard Abood has been appointed to umpire today’s Marsh One-Day Cup Final between New South Wales and Western Australia at Bankstown Oval – one of four NSWCUSA members to be involved.

Mosman CC’s Toni Lorraine and Sydney CC’s Ian Wright have been appointed to score the match, with Honorary Member David Gilbert to oversee the fixture as Match Referee.

The final will conclude what has been a busy season for Abood – having been involved in all three formats of the India tour, five Sheffield Shield fixtures, two One-Day Cup matches and ten BBL matches.

It will be consecutive finals for Abood and Victorian Shawn Craig, who umpired the 2019-20 Final together at Allan Border Field as Western Australia defeated Queensland.

The match will be Abood’s 54th men’s List A fixture since he debuted in the format during the 2005-06 season when Victoria hosted New South Wales at Wangaratta.

For scorer pairing Lorraine and Wright – it will be the ninth match they’ve recorded together this season, including one in each format of the India tour, the BBL Final, a WBBL semi-final and the Premier Cricket clash between their two clubs.

It will be Lorraine’s 36th men’s List A match, whilst Wright will be recording his 37th in the format – each will be scoring their first One-Day Cup Final.

David Gilbert has been appointed Match Referee for the Final, his second match in the competition this season, alongside three Sheffield Shield matches, three WNCL, four BBL and 14 WBBL.

Victorian Phil Gillespie will be the Third Umpire for the match, scheduled to begin at 9.30am, which will be broadcast on Fox Cricket, the Cricket Network and Kayo.
